[ ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ]

Today choosing materials for construction are more critical than ever before. With the threat of climate change, ocean destruction, waste, and environmental contamination.

Choosing materials such as Stainless Steels offer not only one of the most durable and versatile products on the market today for variety of industries, but offer the purest life cycle of almost any recycled materials on the market today.

Stainless Steels are one of the worlds most recycles products, and within its composition lies raw materials that make the process of recycling stainless steels very economical. Most stainless steel products ranging from the 300 to 400 series have an average recycle content of 60 percent and greater. The rate is 25% old recycled materials, 30% new recycled materials & 40% new raw materials.

What Steel materials do we recycle?

  • Stainless Steel

  • Aluminum

  • Hot rolled steel

  • Cold rolled steel

  • Brass

  • Copper

  • Titanium

  • Galvanized

What Plastics & Composites do we recycle?

  • Teflon

  • High Density Polyethylene (HDPE)

  • Poly Carbonate

  • Delrin

  • Phenolic

  • Abs Plastics

  • Pvc’s

All Material are sorted and containerized for shipment to the recycle centers. Along with our standard recycle policy for raw materials used for construction we are continually moving toward a greener office everyday from paper consumption and ink cartridge recycling programs to electronic and consumable disposal policies. Creating a more robust digital office environment is at the forefront of our green office program.

Using advanced networking & storage capabilities to send, receive & store working documents has helped reduce our waste by over 40%. In last few years the construction industry has made great advanced toward the way drawings and documents are sent and received digitally. We welcome the latest in technology to reduce the amount of paper goods and waste and continue to help the advancement of these changes in our industries to help maintain a friendly balance between industry and the environment.

Berlin Food & Lab Equipment is committed to achieving low environment impact during the manufacturing processes and installations throughout the United States and neighboring countries.

We consistently strive to avoid adverse affects and impact to our health & to the environment. Our management team collectively enforces our goals listed below:

  • Reducing landfill waste.

  • Lowering energy costs through building retrofits & green building strategies.

  • Taking advantage of solar technology.

  • Using environmentally friendly cleaning & process chemicals during manufacturing.

  • Water Conservation.

  • Using steel recycle programs throughout all processes.

  • Using digital technology to store and transfer data without paper waste.

Lighting & Electrical Measures
Installing LED lighting to reduce peak demand by replacing:

  • Full replacement of first-generation T8 lamps and generic high wattage electronic ballasts with 4th generation T8 lamps ecology and extra-high efficient electronic ballasts. Along with a 95% replacement of all fluorescent tubes with LED tubes unless needed for safety reasons.

  • All Halogen or incandescent spot, bulb lights replaced with LED spot focus & flood bulbs.

  • All Magnetically ballasted HID & Metal Halide 400watt fixtures replaced with LED high bay 100 watt fixtures.

  • 110 Ton Press brakes moved to eco-friendly transformers saving almost 1/2 the power otherwise used during peak hours.

  • Adding solar panels for sustainable measures.
